Standard vs Premium Depth: Which Should You Choose?

Understanding the difference between Standard (48 countries) and Premium (195 countries) simulation depth, and when each makes sense.

GeopoliticsSim offers two simulation depth tiers: Standard and Premium. Here is what each provides and when you should choose one over the other.

Standard Depth (48 Countries)

Standard depth simulates the 48 countries that drive the vast majority of global geopolitical dynamics. These include:

  • All P5 nuclear powers (US, Russia, China, UK, France)
  • NATO members and major alliance partners
  • Regional powers (India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc.)
  • Key resource producers and chokepoint controllers
  • Rising powers and strategic pivots

Best for: Most scenarios. If your question involves major powers, alliances, or well-known flashpoints, Standard depth has all the data you need.

Credit cost: Lower per step.

Premium Depth (195 Countries)

Premium depth extends the simulation to all 195 internationally recognized states. This adds:

  • Small island nations and microstates
  • Landlocked developing countries
  • States with minimal geopolitical footprint individually but collective regional significance

Best for: Scenarios that specifically involve smaller states, regional dynamics in underrepresented areas (Pacific Islands, Central Africa, Caribbean), or when you need comprehensive global coverage for a cascading scenario.

Credit cost: Higher per step due to increased AI processing.

When Standard Is Enough

If you are simulating a Taiwan Strait crisis, a NATO-Russia confrontation, or a Saudi-Iran proxy conflict — Standard depth covers all the relevant actors. The 48-country model includes every country that would meaningfully affect or be affected by these scenarios.

When Premium Matters

If you are exploring how a climate disaster in the Pacific affects small island nations, or how a coup in a West African state cascades through ECOWAS, Premium depth provides the granularity you need.

Our Recommendation

Start with Standard. Most users find it sufficient for 90%+ of their scenarios. Upgrade to Premium for specific scenarios that require global comprehensiveness.
